TIPS | growing your hair
You probably know this by now but unfortunately there is no magic potion where you will one day wake up with Rapunzel length locks. Growing your hair takes time, especially when doing it properly and the healthiest way. Your hair only grows about 1/4 to 1/2 of an inch per month so it’s important especially if you’re trying to grow your hair to stick to a routine which will help promote growth and less split ends. If you want to learn more from our Suki’s staff on what they recommend, keep on reading!
Trim | We know this isn’t what you want to hear but we promise you this works. You need to take care of those ends and you should give it a small trim about every three months or so. Not only does this get rid of any split ends that are about to get bigger but it also gives your hair a nice, full look towards the ends.
Supplements | We carry both TruMarine Collagen and SugarBearHair at our downtown salon. Both products promote healthy hair, skin and nails and we really love and recommend these products to anyone who’s looking to grow longer and stronger hair!
Shampoo & Conditioner | When it comes to shampoo, try to not shampoo everyday because this strips away your natural oils which you need for long and healthy hair. We also recommend using a sulfate-free shampoo, one of our favourites is the “Bain Fluidealiste Sulfate-Free” from Kerastase. For conditioner make sure you use it every single time you shampoo because it replaces the proteins inside your strand as well as it seals the outer cuticle. The “Fondant Extentioniste Conditioner” from Kerastase is a length strengthening conditioner so it’s a perfect option if you’re looking to grow full locks.
Mask it | If you aren’t already, you should be masking your hair once a week if your hair is about shoulder length or longer. Your ends need the most care, love and attention so it’s important to give that to them. Using a deep conditioning mask allows healthy particles to penetrate the fiber of your hair and seal the cuticles with a uniform coating.
Serum | Hair growth starts with the scalp, so having a strengthening scalp serum makes sense right? The “Serum Extentioniste Scalp & Hair Serum” from Kerastase is another product that will help with your journey of hair growth. This energizing leave-in treatment reinforces and promotes a healthy scalp, which helps achieve strong, long and healthy hair.
The “extentioniste” range from Kerastase was personally recommended by our senior stylist Katie Lee from our downtown location.
