1 | CUTTING YOUR HAIR FREQUENTLY MAKE IT GROW FASTER

The reason why we suggest trimming your hair every six to eight weeks is to prevent your strands from breaking, not because your hair will grow faster. Having full and healthy ends will give the illusion of longer hair though.

2 | PULLING YOUR GREY HAIR MAKES MORE GROW

No, plucking your greys does not mean that they will come back in multiples. Even though you really want to get rid of them, we suggest you leave them until your next hair appointment. Plucking your hair can possibly destroy the hair follicle which means that it can leave to bald patches… and that’s something that cannot be fixed.

3 | STRESS MAKES YOUR HAIR GREY

There is no scientific proof that stress makes your hair grey, this is genetics!

4 | PONYTAILS, BRAIDS AND BUNS ARE A GOOD DAILY HAIRSTYLE

Yes… and no. These are all great hairstyles to skip the heat but you really don’t want this to be a daily thing. The constant tension from these styles can cause a receding hairline or cause breakage that will leave your hair thin, weakened and damaged over time.

5 | COLOUR TAKES BETTER ON DIRTY HAIR

Nope, colour sticks best to clean hair that doesn’t have any product buildup. So skip the gels, dry shampoo, oils, etc and come to the salon with freshly washed hair.

6 | 2 IN 1 SHAMPOO & CONDITIONER PRODUCTS ARE AS GOOD AS USING THEM SEPARATELY

To put it simply, no these 2 in 1 products will not work as well as having a good separate shampoo and conditioner. These two products work on doing completely different things, one’s job is to clean the dirt and buildup from the scalp whereas the other focuses on smoothing out and locking in nutrients in the hair. In our opinion, keep them separate!

7 | SHAMPOOING MAKES YOU LOSE HAIR

On average people lose between 50 and 100 strands of hair every single day. You likely see the most hair loss when you’re either brushing or washing it… that’s because when a hair is released from the scalp it’s usually held in place by other hairs - sort of like velcro. This is why it may seem that you’re losing your hair because of these actions but in reality they’ve already been released from the scalp.

8 | THE MORE YOU BRUSH YOUR HAIR, THE HEALTHIER IT WILL BE

You should really only brush your hair when it’s needed, for regular upkeep and knots. Don’t overdue this as this can eventually damage the hair cuticle.

9 | I CAN’T DYE MY HAIR IF I’M PREGNANT

Dying your hair while your pregnant is safe, as only a tiny amount of the dye is actually absorbed into the skin. Semi-permanent and highlights might be better for you if you’re pregnant, as the ammonia in permanent dyes can trigger nausea for some.

10 | THE DIRTIER THE HAIR, THE FASTER IT WILL GROW

Less washing means fewer chances for breakage? This is incorrect as hair is at its healthiest and strongest when it’s clean and conditioned! If you skip washing too much your scalp can clog your follicles, which can actually cause your hair to stop growing.
